If it ain't broke, don't fix it

Things work fine, so why should we challenge the status quo?

I spoke to Logistics Manager this month (October issue) about peak demand - something on everyone's mind right now.

In my view, talk about peak demand is the wrong conversation. The industry needs to move away from focusing on short-term peaks and seasonal needs to scale up operations and increase manpower and start thinking differently.

Peak demand is not the big issue anymore - it’s Covid-19, it’s Brexit, it’s the shortage of staff and lorry drivers in the supply chain and a shortage of manpower to operate the line.

We must all focus on preparing for the new demands and challenges, and how greater automation can help.

In this issue, we will be exploring rapid vision solutions for emergency manufacturing issues and the importance of regular maintenance and servicing.

Plus, check out our new logistics and e-commerce vision white paper.

Exciting vision solutions for logistics and e-commerce
New vision technology is driving productivity within logistics and e-commerce

Vision technologies are bringing novel solutions to boost performance, increase accuracy and guarantee reliability within logistics and e-commerce. Our new white paper details the latest solutions which are becoming an essential part of the Industry 4.0 journey.
Case study
How fast can a vision solution be turned around?

Emergency vision solutions to fix urgent issues do exist - but how fast can it really be done? The answer is; as little as 48 hours. See how the Bytronic team was able to turn around a rapid solution for a well-known FMCG brand when it was faced with inspection issues ahead of a large product launch.
Best practice
Maintenance and servicing for vision systems

To keep your vision system working at optimum performance, it's important to have a regular maintenance and servicing schedule in place. When arranging a schedule, it's key to remember three things: the environment of the system, the importance of accuracy and how fundamental maintaining software is.
